The National Council of University Students has always been historically involved in the battle over out-of-town voting. For this reason, in parallel with the initiative of the National Network to which we have adhered, the Council has approved this motion.

The National Council of University Students requests that, with regard to out-of-town voting, the following should be noted:

  • that the Ministry of Universities and Research, in its dialogue with the Government and Parliament, takes up the request for the implementation of off-site voting. The latter should be implemented on an experimental basis, starting with the forthcoming regional elections in Calabria, with an electronic or postal voting tool for all students, doctoral students and post-graduate students who are away from home.

Taking up the press release of the National Network Voto Fuorisede:
“We want to launch this appeal to all the associations, movements and groups present both on the Calabrian territory as well as at national level, in order to send a clear reminder to the political class to solve, once and for all, this deficit of our democratic system; an appeal that can also stimulate the participation of citizens as well as organised realities.
A right is not a right if it is not recognised and guaranteed to all; otherwise it is a privilege. And today we choose an Italy built on equality.”

The initiative is not new. Let’s hope that in this very serious pandemic situation for our country we will be able to bring about this change in our electoral law.
